“My wife and I have been together for six years and will celebrate our second wedding anniversary on July 19. We are expecting our baby in August. Despite my family being against our relationship, we overcame it all. And now our families can actually come together as one as we welcome our biggest blessing. We get a lot of inboxes about out relationship and just want to let others know they should never give up hope and keep faith.”

2. Regan and Michelle Parker

“We recently got married on April 14, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada at Lakeshore Gazebo in a private ceremony accompanied by a few mutual friends. We have been together for five loving years. All love matters!”

3. Dara & Angela

Dara & Angela honored their ancestors during their wedding ceremony.

“I married the love of my life, Angela Calvin on November 7, 2015. We were together for over a year in a long distance relationship (I’m originally from Toronto).

We were married in an outdoor ceremony at the Chula Vista Marina, followed by a reception at the Centro Cultural De La Raza in San Diego, Calif. Our ceremony was really small, only eight people were present. It was performed by our good friend Mara Lopez, and included a Yoruba tasting ceremony, and we walked down the aisle to live guitar played by our friend, Israel.”

4. Sheka & Kakes

“Five years ago on her birthday was my first time being in her presence. We all went out to eat for her birthday. And since then, there has been something about her I can’t resist. Maybe it’s her eyes, they reminded me of mine (they tell stories). She was so beautiful. She was the first woman I’ve ever looked at in this way. We became friends first. Then one night she came over. I hadn’t seen her in a very long time. I didn’t want to lose her so I put my foot down and told her how I felt. We’ve been together since November 2015.”

5. Rebecca and Tamika

“My wife (stud) and I just got married on April 29, 2016. We have been together for almost 2 years. In spite of our small break up we have been through good times, bad times, and even horrible but through it all we made it.

In spite of everything, I wouldn’t trade my wife for the world! She’s my prayer partner, my love, and world. She loves our kids to death and even though I’m the hardest person to deal with, she chose me, and I chose her. I have never met anybody with a heart like her and that’s the reason I love and choose to marry her. I love you Bae with my everything.”

“The first time she made me smile, I knew she was special. We both were born and raised in the same area, had known each other and reconnected through social media. Now I live in Louisiana and she lives in Texas. We’ve been together five months and counting (our anniversary is 1/8/16).  Long distance love is a challenge everyday, but are working on moving soon!”

7. Nicky and Melanie

“We’ve been together since January 2016. Our relationship is still fresh but the way I feel when I’m with you is indescribable. You make love worth loving again! Thank you for showing that just because you failed at love that doesn’t mean that you can’t love again!”

8. Cierra & Kelsey

“I was a cosmetology student when a random girl, who is now my amazing girlfriend, Kelsey, messaged me to get her hair done. I went over to her house to do her hair and while her hair was processing, we kept passing questions back and forth. That same night we went out to a movie and dinner. I was REALLY feeling her, but neither of us made a move. As she hugged me and thanked me for her hair, I told her that I’ll see her again on our next ‘date.’

We saw each other every day that week and on November 15, 2016, she became my girlfriend. Six months later, we both have promise rings and talk about our future together frequently. She’s the most amazing thing that has happened to me. Rain or shine she has always been there.”

9. Shonda & Jessica

“Her dimples are what attracted me to her but it was her personality that made me fall for her. I realized she was special when she convinced me to take a trip to Las Vegas knowing my fear of flying. One of our biggest challenges has been that our friends are not supportive of our relationship, but our love for each other is so deep that we don’t let their opinions affect us. We’ve been together since October 27, 2014 and are engaged to be married.”

10. Monique & Joni

“We met when Joni moved in next door to me. I was the nosy, married neighbor. I asked her could I come over for a drink, she nervously said yes and offered me grape juice. I knew she was special when I would smile and cry just thinking about her. We have been together 20 years and our anniversary is August 17.

Joni and I have raised my two boys and three nephews and one niece. In the beginning we had the challenge of the kids thinking they could pit us against one another. They all learned very quickly that Joni and I are a team and we were not breakable. When we got married, I had my little girl dream of walking down the aisle to someone I truly love.”

11. Nico & Shanea

“Although we have been friends for three-and-a-half years, this picture is from our first date on May 9, 2016. About an hour after this picture was taken, we were on our way to a club when I had two, life-threatening grand mal seizures in her car. She called 911 and then called my mother. I was so embarrassed when I came to, but was so forever grateful that when I opened my eyes she was right there. I love her with every bone and breath of my body. I’m so grateful and thankful to have her in my life. We will be married in July.”

12. Deon & Shaquita

“I added these words to our photo after reading comments online asking why do we even have labels after the #Orlando attacks. It was important for us as #BlackLesbians to make a statement. To live out loud. In some ways using this space to be seen. I love that my partner, Shaquita, walks in her full self–masculine of center and beautiful. We have been together for 12 years come August. We are getting married on December. I fell in love with her because I wasn’t looking for her. I honestly wasn’t looking for anyone. I just wanted to do her. Well, you see how that worked out :)”
